La esclusa de navegación de la Central Hidroeléctrica Yacyretá (CHY) registró el paso de 68.990 toneladas de soja (59.482 Tn.) y fertilizantes (9.508 Tn.) durante lo que va del mes de abril del corriente año, según reporta la represa desde su Departamento Técnico.
El informe señala que la cantidad de maniobras realizadas por la esclusa fue de 72, incluyendo 117 barcazas, dos embarcaciones, 9 remolcadores y 11 esclusados. A su vez, la presente semana, transitaron un total de 34 barcazas cargadas de soja, con un total de 59.492 Toneladas.
Mientras que el trabajo de esclusado fue favorecido por el leve aumento del caudal del río Paraná, puntualmente en la zona de la represa de Yacyretá, gracias a las últimas lluvias.
Cabe señalar que la esclusa de navegación de la CHY cumple un rol crucial para la efectivización del comercio exterior del Paraguay, fundamentalmente dadas las condiciones de mediterraneidad geográfica que lo caracterizan.
Por lo tanto, esto posibilita que los productos nacionales, particularmente granos, lleguen a puertos de ultramar para partir así a sus destinos de exportación. Al mismo tiempo, permite la circulación de mercancías de importación, todo por un costo muy inferior al transporte terrestre.
Además, cabe destacar que la operación del sistema es absolutamente gratuita para los usuarios del mismo.
PRECEDENTES
La esclusa de navegación fue inaugurada el 1 de junio de 1993. Ubicada en Rincón Santa María, sobre la margen izquierda del Brazo Principal, es una estructura de hormigón que permite salvar el desnivel de 23 metros creado por el Embalse, entre su nivel de cabecera y el de restitución del río aguas abajo de la obra. Permite que en un tiempo de esclusado del orden de los 40 minutos, un tren de barcazas pueda trasladarse desde aguas abajo hacia aguas arriba o viceversa.
A su vez, las barcazas (generalmente de 12m x 60m), son impulsadas por un remolcador de potencia, que pueden impulsar convoyes de varias barcazas, se suele acomodar en la esclusa un tren de 6 barcazas de (3 x 2) en una sola subida o bajada.
La esclusa de navegación opera las 24 horas, los 365 días del año, a simple solicitud del esclusado de las embarcaciones. Se constituye en un factor importante del comercio fluvial de la región, que alcanzan valores promedio anuales de 3.500.000 toneladas de productos intercambiados en los dos sentidos de circulación a través de ella.
